Most moving companies mention insurance and leave it there. We would rather explain it, because the gap between what people assume is covered and what actually is causes more bad feeling than any other part of this business. Basic transit protection covers loss or damage from specified events during carriage. Comprehensive declared-value cover is broader and is priced on the value you declare. Neither covers goods you packed yourself in ways we could not inspect, and neither covers pre-existing damage — which is exactly why we photograph and inventory before packing.
