Moving in Clock Tower: what the area is actually like
Around the Clock Tower, a move is a carrying job with a bit of driving attached. Paltan Bazaar and the lanes behind it will not take a truck during business hours, and several stretches will not take one at all. We stage the vehicle on Rajpur Road or near Gandhi Park and shuttle with a small tempo and handcarts.
Most of what we move here is commercial — shop stock, godown contents, and the residences above the shops. Shop moves are almost always done overnight or on a Sunday because closing on a weekday costs the owner more than the move does. We are set up for that; night crews on this route are normal, not an exception.
Be realistic about timing in this area. A 2BHK above a Paltan Bazaar shop can take as long as a 4BHK in Dalanwala, purely because of the stairs and the distance from the vehicle. We price the crew, not the optimism, and we will tell you at survey exactly how many extra hands the address needs.

Shops with residences above, older multi-storey buildings in tight lanes
Vehicle access
The hardest area in Dehradun for vehicle access. Paltan Bazaar is pedestrianised in stretches and the surrounding lanes are single-vehicle width.
